That morning, on Septemer 10th Mel called. She sounded scared.
"Hello?" i asked, half asleep. she called so early.
"Oh My Gosh! Hannah, help me!" she was panicing.
This woke me up, "WHAT WHAT!?" i said.
"umm...okay....my tummy....has grown, i am fat!" she said, angry.
"Um...how could you suddenly be fat, after being so bloody skinny!" i lauhged.
"Well, i had been eatin so much chocolate lately, it isn;t funny how much i have been eating, i just feel like i need it!" she said ashamed.
"Umm...well excersise then..." i said, kinda stating the obvious.
"Yeah, sorry i woke you up....well you can come over if you want, now that your up!" she said, clearly wanting me over.
"Yeah sure!" then we hung up.
I walked to hers, and found her with a chocolate bar, in her hands, as i walked in. Oh god! something was very different about her, first her had had gone curly, and her tummy did look bigger, but not in a fat way, more like a balloon, but only the start of it blowing up.
"Ummm....Mel, i don't think your fat!" i said, eyeing her suspiciously.
"Well look at this!" she pointed to her tummy. and i laughed.
"Umm....sorry, i am not laughing at you!" i said, holding in the laughter.
"Well, what do you think it is then?" she looked at me worriedly.
"Umm....hate to say this mel, but...i think...your...pregnant!" then i shrugged.
"WHAT!? oh god, oh god!, i never thought about that, shit, shit , shit, my mum will kill me, and now that you mention that, it does explain the vometing, and stuff, i have been having morning sickness, crap, crap, crap!" she was panicing again, and i mean she had a great reason, i knew she was pregnant.
"You better tell Thomas, phone him!" i said.
"Yes, what if he brakes up with me because of it?" she said, then started getting watery eyes.
"Aww Mel, if he does, then he isn;t worth it!" i said. then hugged her.
"Yeah, okay i shall call him, stay in here with me though, please?" she said, poor mel.
SHe called, he picked up. "Hey!" i heard her say.
Mel's phone call:
"Okay Thomas, well, basically, i'm....pregnant, and it's yours!" she said, trying not to cry, then it burst, she started crying, well more sobbing. It was too late to kill it, because there was a slight lump in her.
"Oh, thanksyou Thomas, i love you, your so understnading!" she said, then smiled to me. That was a good sign.
"Bye, i love you, cya in 10!" she said, then hung up.
"So, whats happening?" i asked.
"Well he wants to stay with me, and he is happy, but we are a bit stumped about the hole school thing, and telling our parents!" she said, suddenly full of panic again.
"Yeah, well i am here for you!" i said soothingly.
"Owch!" she said then grabbed her tummy, then she ran to the toilet.
"Mel!? are you okay?" i stumbled over her rug, then fell over. Ben appearred and helped me up.
"Thanks!" i said.
"No problem! where;s mel?" he asked.
"Umm...err...uhh...toilet!" i said, then looked down, i hated stuttering. He pulled my face up, i pulled away. I went to the toilet door, "Mel, you okay??" i asked.
"Umm...." she trailed off. I hear Mel throw up. Yuk, i walked awya and sat on the couch. Ben sat next to me.
"Hi" i said.
"Hello!" he waved. i laughed.
He was so funny, and nice.ummm wait i shouldn't be saying this, this was Mel's brother. Mel came out, she was all sweaty.
"wow, mel you look bad, Hannah whats wrong with her?" he asked me, because he knew something was up.
"Umm...." i said, thats all i could say.
Mel looked at me saying, tell him he will understnad.
"Okay, look, ben, Mel is pregnant." i said, then bit my lip.
"Ooh! Mel, WHat are you gonna do?" he asked her.
"Umm...i dunno, i want it, and so does Thomas, but mum and dad, will hate me, and probably kick me out!" she said sadly.
"Well then you can come stay with me!" i said.
"Yeah! well, can i just live with you now?" Ben said.
I laughed, so much i almost peed. I went into the toilet, and then walked out saying "MUCH BETTER!" i laughed, so did Ben.
When i got home, i told mum.
"OH My! honey, umm...what is she going to do?" she said, worried.
"Well Thomas, and her want the baby, and they want it together, but her parents won't like that much!" i said.
"Yeah! well, has she told her mum and dad yet?" she asked softly.
"Umm..no, thats tonight!" i said, looking worried.
"Oh, well, i will talk to her mum after, and try to make things right, i mean i had you at 21, so she is 17, umm okay that won;t work!" she started talking to herself at the end.
"Yeah, well, hmm?" i said.
Then i walked down to the river with mel and Jess, now jess knew, but we wouldn't tell anyone else. This secret couldn't get out, it was far too big, we would just make Mel go to school until, she was to big them she would stay off, and say she was extremly ill. It could work, with enough friends around you, this could work out.
"So how did your parents react?" i asked really curiously.
"Umm...they are disapointed, but they will help me through it! and they are happy i told them!" she said, a bit happier, than earlier.
"Cool!" Jess and I said at the same time.
"So this is pretty big, Mel. Your having a baby with a guy, and your 17!" she pointed out, well it was obvious.
"I wonder if it will be male, or female?" i lauhged then.
"Or both!" I heard Ben say, from behind us. we all stopped then. Mel and Jess, walked home, and left me with him. great! Thanks girls!
"Hey!" he said.
"umm...hello!" i said
He grabbed me then and hugged me. "Ahhhh get off!" i pushed him away.
"What?" he asked.
"umm..i have a boyfriend!" i reminded him for the 3rd time.
Just then Jason appeared looking angry. uh oh! not this, this is not what i need right now.
"WHAT THE HELL, DO YOU THINK YOUR DOING!?" Jason yelled at Ben.
"Umm...we're friends, i hugged her!" he said innocently.
"RIGHT, LEAVE HER ALONE, IF I EVER CATCH YOU WITH HER AGAIN, YOU WILL BE SORRY!" he shouted.
"Jason, be nice, he didn't mean it like that!"I said. Even though he did mean it like that, but i didn't.
"C'MON!" he said to me, then grabbed my hand and pulled me away, i managed to sneek a look behind and mouth sorry to him. He smiled, and waved.
When Jason took me to his house he kissed me, and i kissed him back, i hadn't seen him for what...5 days, oh well lol. Now i had to be careful i didn't want to get Ben hurt, but i liked being around him, so i was going to see him again, even if it meant lying to my boyfriend.
So Mel was pregnant, Jess was still with Jake, and i wasn't aloud to see ben, Well more like he wasn't aloud to touch me. Hmmm? i could make this work.
When i got home, i heard the phone ring, i answered "Hello?" i said.
"Oh, thank god Hannah!" Jess said, happily.
"Umm yes" i said.
"Okay, i have really bad news!" she said, unhappily.
"Okay, lets hear it!" i said, bracing myself.
"Sophie was hit by a bus today, and has died. We don't know when she was hit, but she was found an hour ago." she said, then started crying.
"Awww, poor thing, oh her parents mum be devastated." i said, then started crying a little.
"Yeah, she was 16, turning 17 in october." she said unhappily.
"Well, sorry but i got to go now." i said then hung up.
So let me get my life straight. Mel was pregnant, Sophie was dead, and i wasn't aloud to see Ben. Great, how was i going to get through one problem, when i now had 3.
